Commercial Kitchen Water Filtration Systems

Remove food particles and suspended solids before they stress drains and treatment.

Commercial kitchen water filtration removes food particles and suspended solids from wash-down and facility water streams so drains, pretreatment, and reuse equipment keep working.

Yardney sand media filters are skid-mounted and fully assembled, and Mini Media filters cover lower flows from 15 to 45 gpm.

  • Media filters from 10 gpm and up
  • Mini Media for 15 to 45 gpm flows
  • Backwash cleaning
  • Serving industry since 1965

Why Commercial Kitchens Need Filtration

Commercial kitchens generate water streams that can carry food particles, grease-related debris, and suspended solids. These loads stress drains, pretreatment, and reuse setups, especially during wash-down.

Removing the particulate load upstream protects downstream treatment components, improves system uptime, and supports more dependable wash-down and facility water management. Fats, oils, and grease are managed separately, with traps and interceptors.

Benefits

Protect Drains and Pretreatment: Reduce the particulate load that stresses drains and pretreatment equipment.

Improve Uptime: Keep downstream components running with less solids loading.

Support Reuse Setups: Cleaner water gives reuse equipment more to work with.

Steady Wash-Down Performance: Maintain dependable performance in wash-down and facility water management.

Yardney Sand Media Filters for Commercial Kitchens

Yardney Sand Media filters remove organic and inorganic suspended solids down to 20 microns, with reverse-stacked media for progressive filtration through the bed. Each system is skid mounted with tanks, valves, manifolds, controller, tubing, solenoids, and a removable underdrain, ready for water and power hookup.

For lower-flow applications, Yardney Mini Media filters handle 15 to 45 gpm with a stainless steel wedgewire underdrain and a 14-inch media bed. The right size depends on your flow, the solids in your water, and where in the kitchen water system you filter.

Applications

  • Removal of organic and inorganic suspended solids down to 20 microns
  • Wash-down and facility water streams
  • Pre-filtration ahead of carbon, reverse osmosis, cartridge or bag filtration, and deionized water
  • Lower flows from 15 to 45 gpm (Mini Media)
  • Water reuse and recovery setups

Commercial Kitchen Water Filtration Process

  • Wash-down or facility water is routed through the filtration system ahead of drains, pretreatment, or reuse equipment.
  • Food particles and suspended solids are trapped in the media bed.
  • Filtered water continues downstream.
  • Backwash starts on elapsed time or pressure differential and releases the captured solids to the backwash manifold.

Filtration removes suspended solids. Fats, oils, and grease are handled by traps and interceptors, and dissolved contaminants need separate treatment.

Filtration Technology Options

Sand Media: organic and inorganic suspended solids down to 20 microns; from 10 gpm; backwash runs one tank at a time

Mini Media: sand media filtration for lower flows, 15 to 45 gpm; 125 psi standard operating pressure; stainless steel wedgewire underdrain

Multi Media: organic and inorganic suspended solids down to 5 microns; backwash starts automatically by elapsed time or pressure differential

Commercial Kitchens Filtration FAQs

What is commercial kitchen water filtration?

It removes food particles and suspended solids from wash-down and facility water so drains, pretreatment, and reuse equipment are not overloaded.

Food particles and other suspended solids. Sand Media filters remove organic and inorganic suspended solids down to 20 microns, and Multi Media filters down to 5.

No. Fats, oils, and grease are managed with traps and interceptors. Filtration removes suspended solids and does not replace them.

Yardney media filters start at 10 gpm, and Mini Media filters handle 15 to 45 gpm. Share your flow and where you want to filter so Yardney can size the system.

Cleaner water gives reuse setups more to work with. What quality you need depends on the use, and local plumbing and health codes may apply, so confirm the requirements for your site.
